The Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County and Gallery Fifty Six worked together to create PAWS FOR ART, an art auction to raise money for the Humane Society. This event was held at Memphis WaterWorks on May 26th, 2011.

PAWS FOR ART
Thanks to everyone who attended last night's Paws For Art artists' reception at Gallery Fifty Six. The work will be on display Monday, May 23rd through Thursday, May 26th. The live auction will be held at the Memphis WaterWorks on Cox Street in the Cooper-Young neighborhood. Tickets to the event are $25.00 per person. Please call the gallery for details at 901-276-1251. The auction will begin at 6:00 PM and will end at 8:00 PM. All proceeds will go the the Memphis and Shelby County Humane Society.

Coming In June
NILES WALLACE, Professor of Ceramics at the University of Memphis, will exhibit his recent
work at Gallery Fifty Six in June. His exhibition, Sticks and Stones, will involve his natural wood
sculptures and his glazed ceramic wall pieces. This will be an exciting show that you will want to see. The artist's reception is June 3, 2011.

Welcome, David Douglas
Gallery Fifty Six is proud to announce that David Douglas is now one of our resident artists. David works in pastel and gouache, and he specializes in spiritual art, as well as abstract portraits. David had a very successful one-man show this past April. We are very happy that David has joined the gallery, and we wish him lots of success.

If you didn't know already, Gallery Fifty Six will present our Spring Group Exhibition tomorrow, Friday, May 6th, from 5 to 8 PM. There is a variety of work to enjoy, and there is something for everyone. You are invited to come to the artist's reception, and please bring a relative or friend. There will be a few surprises, like new ceramic vessels by Forrest Henry and three works by Hungarian-born Candadian painter, Giorgio Vaselli. We also have three new small paintings in the lower gallery by Chattanooga painter Bradley Wilson.
