Get Out, Quick!

University of Memphis ceramics professor Nancy White will exhibit her recent creations in a show titled "3rd Nature".  The exhibition opens on August 5, 2011, with an artist's reception from 5 to 8 PM.  The show's theme is nature and the environment, with work by Nancy White, Mary Stubbs, and Rollin Kocsis.  The reception is free and open to the public at 2256 Central Ave., Memphis, TN  38104

Only Three Days Left!

'Metes and Bounds', an exhibition of work by Bryan Blankenship, will close this Saturday, July 30, 2011.  Seven of his works have sold, but there are still many works to select from.  If you are planning on coming to see his show Saturday, please come early,  because the patrons who have purchased his work will be coming to pick up their originals that day. 

We open at 11:00 on Saturday.

Mary Stubbs Coming To '56

Memphian Mary Stubbs will be part of the August exhibit:  3rd Nature.  She will present creative black and white photographs that are unlike anything you have seen.  Along with Mary will be artists Nancy White and Rollin Kocsis.

There are only 4 more days to view the work by Bryan Blankenship at Gallery Fifty Six.  We will be open tomorrow, Saturday, July 23 from 11 am to 4 pm.  The gallery will be open next week, Wednesday through Saturday.  Bryan's show will come down around 3:00 PM on Saturday.  We hope you will be able to view this creative exhibition.

Argentine Artist Mariana De Marchi

Gallery Fity Six has a wide assortment of monoprints and linocuts by Argentine artist, Mariana De Marchi. We have pieces that are framed and unframed, and they are very reasonably priced.  Currently, Mariana is teaching private lessons as well as creating paintings and prints for upcoming exhibitios.

Mariana also creates hand-painted boxes that she sells from her Argentine studio.  If you would like to have a painted box, you can order one at Gallery Fifty Six.  The artist will personally sign it for you.  (Shipping costs from Argentina will be added to the price of the box.  Please call 901-276-1251 for details.)

Emery on the Move

Gallery Fifty Six painter Emery Franlkin puts the finishing touches to a painting he has been working on at his home studio. This past winter, Emery was featured on the television show 'Tennessee Crossroads'.  Currently he is working on a book that will tell the story of his success in art by using a positive mental attitude.  The publication will be available on Amazon.com in the near future, and he currently has over 300 advanced orders. Emery recently brought four new, exciting paintings to the gallery.  Please stop by to see them.

Going, Going, Gone....

If you are planning on purchasing one of Bryan Blankenship's mixed-media pieces, now is the time to buy.
Four of his works have sold, with one going to Ft. Lauderdale and another going to New Mexico.  Not only is Bryan's work good, it is priced to sell.  If you have not seen his show, the gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday, from 12 noon until 4 PM.

Ready, Set, Go!

The paintings are hung, the tags are placed, and the lighting is balanced at Gallery Fifty Six.  Everything is ready for Bryan Blankenship's exhibition:  Metes and Bounds.  The artist's reception is tomorrow, July 8th, from 5 to 8 PM.  You are invited to this event, and it is free and open to the public.

Bryan's work is the kind of art that will work in almost any decor. The artist works with masonite pieces that have been coated with a mixture of white paint and plaster that is textured and painted in a variety of ways.  Bryan's colors run from warm and bright then cool then neutral.  Bryan has made a special effort to offer you the very best value for the price.  Now is the time to purchase that art piece you have been waiting for.

There is a new display of work in the resident gallery.  Be sure to notice work by John Hood-Taylor, a recent graduate of MCA.  Mariana De Marchi, our artist from Argentina, has a large collection of mono-prints to choose from.  Photographer Paul Clark has a large collection of Delta images that cover one wall of the gallery, and John Sosh has in intriguing new piece.

Mark your calendar!  Get ready for some real eye-candy when you view the new exhibition by Bryan Blankenship at Gallery Fifty Six.  The artist's reception is Friday, July 8th, 2011 from 5 until 8 PM.
Parking is available in front of the building, across the street at Lee Pruitt's shop, on New York Street, and at Market Central on Cox Street, 1/2 block West of the gallery.  We hope you can attend Bryan's opening.  Bring a friend!
