Gallery Fifty Six is proud to present the drawings, paintings, and prints of Argentine artist Mariana De Marchi during the month of February.  Mariana provided over 30 works of art for her show in Gallery C, opening on February 3, 2012.  As an added attraction, the gallery will attempt to Skype with the artist during the artists' reception. If everything goes as planned, gallery guests will be able to converse with Mariana De Marchi 'live' from Buenos Aires, Argentina.  Come to the artists' reception for a truly unique experience.

Hans Videll - Memphis Sculptor


These beautiful, mysticl masks were created by Han Videll, a University of Memphis studio art major.
Two masks are make of plaster, and the third mask is created with resin. These masks, along with other work by young, emerging artists, will be on display in the gallery until January27, 2012

Michael Whitaker, a Gallery Fifty Six photographer, has just published his first book titled "Very Close and Personal:  Faces of the Neshoba County Fair"

Michael has been with the gallery for two years, and was a life-long Memphian before moving recently to Oregon.  Michael works mostly in black and white, and he creates documentary and fine art photography.

Chuck currently teaches drawing at the University of Memphis and he helped pick many of the young artists from the University of Memphis for this exhibition.  Thanks also goes to John Hood-Taylor, Evan Lebaroff, and Steve Crowe, from the Memphis College of Art, for their help and participation in this show.

Exciting New Show

Our current show "New Talent:  2012" has lots of great art, and a few surprises.  This exhibition has a lot sculpture, including welded steel by Evon Lebaroff; ceramic sculpture by Andy Williams, and some masks by Hans Videll.

The artists' reception is Friday, January 6th, from 5 until 8 PM.  This event is free and open to the public.
