Art Opening Tomorrow Night



Gallery Fifty Six has put together a great art exhibition that you will want to see.  Part of the exhibition will the Christmas Story illustrated in 7 colorful pastel over gouache paintings.  Each one is matted, framed, and signed by the artist, David Douglas.  

Also in the exhibition are photographs by Paul Clake and Mary Stubbs.  Paul has presented four from his series:  Seeking Salvation.   Mary Stubbs has a collection of her infra-red photographs of trees, clouds, and the environment.  Bryan Blankenship has three of his painted wall sculptures, and Jan Hankins has created six seriously unusual pieces.  Be sure to notice Niles Wallace's two new sculptures:  Lovers and Sundae.

The other artists in this show are John Armistead, Bryan Blankenship, Art Covington, Steve Crowe, Emery Franklin, Joyce Garner, Jan Hankins, John Sosh and Niles Wallace.

You are invited to the artists' reception at the Gallery on Friday, from 5 to 8 PM.

DAVID DOUGLAS AT GALLERY FIFTY SIX

Nativity by David Douglas

Gallery Fifty Six will present The Christmas Story, illustrated by David Douglas.  Come and view the seven beautiful pastel-over-gouache paintings by Memphis artist David Douglas.  This collection was commissioned by The Palladio Group for the 2012 Christmas Open House.  Along with Palladio and Market Central, Gallery Fifty Six will present their Autumn Group Exhibition, featuring the work of David Douglas at the gallery opening on Nov. 2, 2012.

David has created seven small paintings of the Christmas story.  The 6 panels are $400.00 each, matted and framed in simple black.  The centerpiece, The Manger Scene, is larger, and is priced at $800.00

There will be two artists' receptions.  The Autumn Group Exhibition will open on Nov. 2, 2012, from 5 to 8 PM.  There will also be an opening for the galley's first craft exhibiton on Nov.8, 2012, from 5 to 7 PM. David's work will be featured at both receptions.

Friday night is the night for art in Cooper-Young.  The Palladio Group will present three artist receptions on the same night.  Gallery Fifty Six will host the new work by Jeannine Paul and Mary Bowman in their exhibition titled "Different Directions" from 5 to 8 PM.  Market Central is the place to see the paintings of 5 Memphis artists from 5 to 7 PM.  The Palladio will present the silk paintings of Rollin Kocis.  All three events are within walking distance.  Park your car and then enjoy three art events.

Seeking Fine Art Craft Artists

FINE ART CRAFT EVENT AND OPEN HOUSE

We are looking for craft artists to show and sell their works at Gallery Fifty Six's first annual Open House and Fine Art Craft Event. The event will be in conjunction with the Open House at Palladio and Market Central. The three- day event will be Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 from 5 to 7 PM (reception), Friday, Nov. 9th, from 10 AM to 5 PM, and Saturday, Nov. 10th from 10 AM to 5 PM. We would like all artists to meet guests on Thursday evening at the reception, and Friday or Saturday, if convenient

Interested craft artists should submit 3 to 5 images of their works to rollin@galleryfiftysix.com. Only original, quality, fine art crafts will be considered. We are looking for jewelry, fibers, leather, hand-made books, unique wearables, wood, small sculptures, etc.

Artist will be notified of acceptance by September 15, 2012. Take advantage of this great opportuity to show and sell your work. If you have questions, call Rollin at the gallery, 901-276-1251 (Wed. - Sat., noon to 4 PM)
