A photograph by J. Michael Whitaker has been selected as one of twenty B&W photos to be exhibited in May at the Black Box Gallery, a very small photo-specific gallery in Portland, Oregon.
The judge was Julia Dolan, the Minor White Curator of Photography at the Portland Art Museum. She has a BFA in photography from the Maryland Institute College of Art, a MA in art history from Penn State and a PhD in art history from Boston University. She previously worked for the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Addison Gallery of American Art and the Fogg Art Museum.
The image selected is the "Restricted Attention" image on the home page of Michael's website
(http://www.j-michael-whitaker.com/).
Gallery Fifty Six is proud to have J. Michael Whitaker as one of three photographers that we represent.
