Emery Franklin on Television

Emery Franklin, represented by Gallery Fifty Six,  currently has an exhibition of his work at the Benjamin Hooks Public Library.  An interview with  Emory Franklin will be aired during the month of February on Comcast Channel 18. The interview will be broadcast on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM. Thanks for coming to the artists' reception for our SECOND ANNUAL WINTER INVITATIONAL.  We had a terrific crowd of art lovers tonight.  The art was great, the food was great, the guests were great.  This was one of our most successful openings.  We appreciate everyone who came out to support us.  If you have not been to Gallery Fifty Six, you owe it to yourself to come visit.  We have a wonderful array of fine artists. The paintings are hung and the sculptures are in place.  Gallery Fifty Six's Second Annual Winter Invitational opens this Friday at 5:00 PM, and it's a great looking show!  Included are photographs by Mary Stubbs; paintings by Chuck Johnson, Trevor Simpson, Janet Beaver, Jay Hankins, and Carol DeForest; sculpture by Niles Wallace, Eli Gold, and Carol DeForest; pottery by Niles Wallace and Bryan Blankenship, and mixed media works by Sara Howell and Bryan Blankenship.  There is something for everyone!

In Gallery C are over 30 paintings, prints, and drawings by Argentine artist Mariana De Marchi.  As an added attraction, Gallery Fifty Six will Skype 'live' with Mariana.  Come and ask the artist some questions or comment on her work.

February 3rd will be an exciting evening at GALLERY FIFTY SIX!  Be sure to be there!  This event is FREE and open to the public.  5:00 to 8:00 PM

Gallery Fifty Six is proud to present the drawings, paintings, and prints of Argentine artist Mariana De Marchi during the month of February.  Mariana provided over 30 works of art for her show in Gallery C, opening on February 3, 2012.  As an added attraction, the gallery will attempt to Skype with the artist during the artists' reception. If everything goes as planned, gallery guests will be able to converse with Mariana De Marchi 'live' from Buenos Aires, Argentina.  Come to the artists' reception for a truly unique experience.

Hans Videll - Memphis Sculptor



These beautiful, mysticl masks were created by Han Videll, a University of Memphis studio art major.

Two masks are make of plaster, and the third mask is created with resin. These masks, along with other work by young, emerging artists, will be on display in the gallery until January27, 2012

Michael Whitaker, a Gallery Fifty Six photographer, has just published his first book titled "Very Close and Personal:  Faces of the Neshoba County Fair". 

Michael has been with the gallery for two years, and was a life-long Memphian before moving recently to Oregon.  Michael works mostly in black and white, and he creates documentary and fine art photography.

Our current show "New Talent:  2012" has lots of great art, and a few surprises.  This exhibition has a lot sculpture, including welded steel by Evon Lebaroff; ceramic sculpture by Andy Williams, and some masks by Hans Videll.

The artists' reception is Friday, January 6th, from 5 until 8 PM.  This event is free and open to the public.

Artist Lauren Coulson will be part of our New Talent: 2012 exhibition that opens January 6, 2012.

Currently, Lauren is attending graduate art school in Boston.  Unfortuantely, her name was left off our

Emery Franklin - Talent To Spare

Emery Franklin has been represented by Gallery Fifty Six for over two years.  His work has shown in the National Civil Rights Museum, and he has been featured on the WKNO-TV show 'Tennessee Crossroads'.  Emery is currently represented by thirteen galleries across the United States.

Mariana De Marchi is one of Gallery Fifty Six's international artists. Currently, Mariana teaches the visual arts as well as create and show her own work in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  Mariana's strenghth is in her expressive portraits of  'people on the street'.  She will surprise you with the items she draws into her pictures, like fish and lizards.  Her subjects are thought provoking and her technical skills are astounding.
